Head - Operations (Cement Plant)

Role & responsibilities

The incumbent shall be responsible for Operations, Production, Maintenance, Quality Control, Electrical & Instrumentation, Safety & Environment, Team Management, Cost Control, Strategy Planning,

Production Management:

• Oversee the entire production process, including raw material handling, clinker firing, grinding, and cement packing to ensure optimal output and quality standards.
• Monitor production KPIs like capacity utilization, yield, and downtime to identify areas for improvement.
• Implement process optimization strategies to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.

Maintenance Leadership:

• Lead the maintenance team to execute preventive and corrective maintenance schedules on plant machinery and equipment.
• Manage maintenance budgets and ensure timely procurement of spare parts.
• Monitor equipment reliability and implement predictive maintenance techniques.

Quality Control:

• Ensure adherence to quality standards throughout the production process by conducting regular quality checks and analysis.
• Implement quality control procedures to identify and address any quality issues promptly.
• Monitor and report on product quality metrics.

Safety and Environment:

• Champion a strong safety culture within the plant, enforcing safety protocols and conducting regular safety training.
• Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and implement initiatives to minimize environmental impact.
• Monitor and manage waste disposal practices.

Team Management:

• Lead and motivate a large team of production, maintenance, and quality control personnel.
• Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
• Foster a collaborative work environment and address performance issues.

Cost Control:

• Monitor operational costs, including raw materials, energy consumption, and labor expenses.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement initiatives to optimize resource utilization.
• Prepare operational budgets and track performance against budget targets.

Strategic Planning:

• Participate in strategic planning processes to identify future operational needs and expansion plans.
• Analyze market trends and customer requirements to optimize production strategies.
• Evaluate new technologies and equipment to improve operational efficiency.

Preferred candidate profile

B.E./B. Tech.(Mechanical / Chemical) with 20 to 25 years of experience in Integrated Cement plant operations, preferably in a leadership role.

• Strong understanding of cement manufacturing processes, quality control procedures, and maintenance practices.
• Proven ability to manage large teams and achieve operational targets.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Leadership qualities, including communication, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
