Job Overview:
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of our IoT backend infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing backend applications to process real-time data from IoT sensors and devices into our cloud infrastructure. The data you manage will enable real-time dashboards, AI-based analytics, and predictive insights for water quality monitoring systems.
This role requires a strong background in IoT protocols, cloud storage, and backend development to ensure a scalable, secure, and efficient IoT architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
Backend Development & System Architecture:
Design and develop robust, scalable, and high-performance backend systems for real-time IoT data collection and processing.
Implement data processing pipelines to ensure efficient ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) workflows.
Develop RESTful APIs and WebSockets for secure, low-latency communication between IoT devices and cloud infrastructure.
IoT Data Management & Cloud Integration:
Work with IoT protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, Modbus, LoRaWAN, and HTTP for device communication.
Optimize data acquisition, transformation, and storage for high-speed, large-scale IoT deployments.
Integrate and manage cloud platforms such as AWS IoT, Google Cloud IoT, and Microsoft Azure.
Security, Performance, & Compliance:
Ensure end-to-end security of IoT communications, including encryption, authentication, and access control.
Optimize system performance to handle high-frequency data streams from connected devices.
Maintain compliance with industry standards for IoT security, cloud storage, and data privacy.
Collaboration & Leadership:
Work closely with hardware engineers, data scientists, and frontend developers to build end-to-end IoT applications.
Lead and mentor junior developers in best practices for scalable, maintainable backend systems.
Troubleshoot data transmission, API performance, and cloud infrastructure issues in real-time.
Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 5 years in backend software development, IoT applications, or cloud-based systems.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and debugging abilities to optimize IoT infrastructure.
Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and translate business needs into technical solutions.
Technical Expertise:
Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in Python or Java.
IoT Protocols: Experience with MQTT, CoAP, LoRaWAN, Modbus, and WebSockets.
Cloud Services: Hands-on experience with AWS IoT Core, Google Cloud IoT, or Azure IoT Hub.
Data Processing: Experience with ETL pipelines, stream processing (Kafka, Apache Spark), and real-time data handling.
Database Management: Proficiency in SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Firebase, InfluxDB).
API Development: Expertise in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and WebSockets.
